Seriously?! How is my baby four-years-old already?! Someone should warn mommies that a major change happens right about four and your toddler just gradually disappears and all of a sudden you have a little boy on your hands!
Luke’s 4th birthday party wasn’t as big as a production as my normal parties (see his County Fair Party | Mini Masterpiece Art Party | Tribal Camping Party). Frankly, I was just TOO pregnant! Trying to plan a birthday party at 9 months pregnant is pretty tough (plus, I did Daddy Russ’ bday party the weekend before). But I just love doing his birthday parties and his world is about to change so much with the arrival of his brother so Daddy Russ and I still wanted him to have a special day.
When asking Luke where he wanted to have his party he promptly replied, “The Ranch.” Which, obviously, wasn’t going to be an option since mommy couldn’t get that far away from the hospital at 9 months pregnant. So I started thinking about things that he loves right now and came up with a Snow Cone Birthday Party idea. I asked him what he thought and he said a big, “YES!”
Ivy Lane Bakery made the cookies again this year (see her teepee and arrow cookies that she did last year here). She is so good, I can’t rave about her enough! Sometimes when cookies look this good they don’t actually TASTE good. I can assure you they are delicious!
I painted some cardboard letters from Hobby Lobby and snagged some other party items like the tin buckets, kazoos and wooden spoons in the Target dollar section. Easy decor for this preggo mommy!
Another cheat that I did…NAKED cakes! So I’m really pretty bad at icing cakes – like REALLY bad. But naked cakes are my answer and they are supposed to look kinda messy. I used Pillsbury’s Funfetti Cake which went perfect with the theme and is yummy! Just use food color on the icing to change the colors.
The special treat for the event was the Kona Ice snow cone truck! Ladies – this was one of the best things I’ve ever done! The sweetest husband and wife team own the San Antonio Kona Ice and they are very affordable. You can pay to have them bring out the truck and then everyone can enjoy yummy snow cones – and YOU don’t have to worry about the mess! Be sure to follow them on Facebook here and tell them that The sTORIbook sent you!
They have tons of flavors but even have a little dispenser on the side at kid’s height so they can make their own which the kids thought was so cool!
This is me with my Papa and Nannie (Luke’s Great Grandparents). They never miss a Luke party and we love having them with us to celebrate! They love their Lukie!
One of the other cool party features was this custom made snow cone pinata made by SA Pinatas. It was Luke’s FIRST pinata!
We also had a bounce house provided by Jumping for Joy Inflatables that the kids jumped all their snow cone energy out on! A BIG THANK YOU to my Aunt Rona who is the owner! Best birthday present ever!!
We had so much fun! Each year I love to look back at all the party photos and see how much all of Luke’s friends have grown. So many special birthday memories that I hope Luke will cherish forever!
Brilliant and fresh idea! Who doesn’t love snowcones…WHO?!
How cute it this! Especially love your naked cakes – such a great idea!!
Another fun birthday party for Luke with a great theme! Meego had too many snow cones!!
