Now that summer is in full swing we’re spending hours in the pool – which means I’m spending hours poolside watching kiddos swim! My pool deck didn’t have much going for it – and those Live Oak trees don’t do much for a tropical feel. So with the help of At Home, I turned my pool side spot into a Palm Springs inspired retreat (see the before at the bottom of the post!).
Borrowing from the iconic color palette of Palm Springs (pink, navy, green, turquoise and crisp white) made it easy to choose pieces that would work well together and provide a fun but relaxing oasis in the middle of a Texas summer. The two navy and white chairs are relaxing to sit in and provide a great view of the kids in the pool. They’re easy to get in and out from and don’t get hot.
Tropical plants don’t love my backyard – but these tried and true elephant ears are just right for the climate and look amazing in a tall, cool turquoise pot. Just a little touch of vacation greenery!
The indoor/outdoor rug is soft underfoot AND stays cool in the hot sun. It makes a nice anchor for the arrangement and fun contrast for a lime green table – just the right size for a tray of cocktails!
Three pink fence panels frame the space behind the navy striped chairs and are the perfect spot to hang fun outdoor lighting for when pool days turn into pool nights.
At Home has such a comprehensive inventory. Each one of the 104 At Home stores (originally founded in Texas as Garden Ridge) is about 120,000 square feet – and you seriously never know what (truly affordable) treasures you’ll find. These pink fence panels were the kicking off point for the whole transformation.
A white outdoor lantern (it runs on batteries and has a 6 hour automatic timer!) also provides a little extra after-dark glow. Perfect for some downtime after kid bedtime! The outdoor pillows are a fantastic finishing touch and super comfy to lean on.
I love the decorative pattern on this carafe – and it’s just the right size for lemonade or cocktails. I spotted the adorable pineapple picks and pretty minty napkins by the checkout lanes – there were so many extras to look at there! As part of the At Home Inspiration Team, we’re excited to bring you lots of fun finds and home decor ideas over the next year.
Mouse over the image above to see the empty and uninspiring ‘before’ spot. The ‘after’ is in true staycation mode and I love the vibe on the pool deck now.
