Congratulations mamas! We did it! We have officially survived summer! I was having some major mixed feelings about back-to-school. On one hand I was definitely excited to not have kids running around me as I attempted to work every day but there is also a whole other level of activities and to-do lists that come with school. Did you feel the same way? Well, I hope all of your littles had a wonderful First Day!

Summer is getting towards the end but the heat is definitely not letting up in San Antonio. I may be dreaming about boot weather but it’s still a ways off. There is one piece of clothing in my closet though that I love to transition between seasons so it’s a great purchase right now… KIMONOS! They are incredibly versatile and uber-chic and I wanted to tell you all about how to style a kimono!

how to style a kimono

1. Wear With Shorts

We are going to go over a variety of ways to wear a kimono but I’m primarily showcasing wearing a kimono with shorts in my photos. This is a fave of mine in the spring or summer because it’s comfortable and perfect for chasing kids or chic if you are traveling. I love pairing a shorter tailored short with a longer kimono which will thin you out and give you length.

2. ACCESORIZE

You can certainly go for a heavy boho vibe with your kimono look but I like to elevate my outfits. The easiest way to elevate your look is with JEWELRY. All of my jewelry is from the fabulous Lee Michaels, which has two locations in San Antonio and is also available online and in other states. I selected jewelry that had some flair but was still classic.

I was immediately attracted to this 14K gold sapphire and pave diamond evil eye bracelet which is fun and the sapphire perfectly coordinated with the blue in the kimono.

Let’s talk about these three gorgeous necklaces. Again, this is a great updated option that still gives a nod to the bohemian vibe. I’m wearing Lee Michaels: 14K gold pave diamond crescent necklace, their 14K gold 18″ diamond necklace (alternates between plain polished and pave diamond circles) and their 14k gold pave diamond open clover necklace.

And this ring is literally one of those rings that you can wear with EVERYTHING. This is their 18k gold pave diamond ring which features 5 intertwined rows.

And finally – these elongated diamond shaped earrings are 14k gold with pave diamonds.

3. Hats on Top!

I’m such a fan of hats! Not only do they protect your face from the harsh sun rays but they also really finish a look.

4. Wear with Jeans

As fall gets closer you can change out your shorts to a pair of cuffed jeans for an easy look with a bit more coverage.

5. Wear with Dresses

I also love to pair my kimono with a fitted sheath dress. I recommend your dress being more form fitting since you will get so much volume from your kimono and you don’t want to add too much bulk to your body.
