sTORIbook Lovely: Katie Clark With A Touch Of Whimsy

Every woman should be blessed by a circle of amazing friends. I happen to be blessed with, not only amazing friends, but TALENTED friends! I’m so glad when I have the opportunity to give one of those ladies a fabulous shout-out and today that’s what this new series is all about! I always call my friends/readers/followers “lovelies.” Ever wonder why I always say that?!

The definition of lovely is, “exquisitely beautiful.” And THAT is exactly what I think all of YOU are! Beautiful on the outside and more importantly – beautiful on the inside. I’ve been wanting to start a series to highlight some of you special Lovelies because I’m a big believer in supporting one another and it gives me so much joy to sing your praises! With that being said – I’m so excited to introduce you to our FIRST sTORIbook Lovely… Katie Clark with A Touch of Whimsy!

I first met Katie Clark at Neiman Marcus where she was working her magic on their visuals team. Her displays, floral arrangements, and more always had me in awe. But you know what really endeared her to me… her smile and overall positive outlook on life. There wasn’t a single time that I would go to chat with Katie that her smile wouldn’t light up the room and her joy was absolutely contagious.

A couple weeks ago I decided I wanted to plan a special day for some of my girlfriends at the JW Marriott Lantana Spa. I wanted the day to be all about Intention, Inspiration and Rejuvenation. All of my friends work incredibly hard – many are juggling motherhood, work and so much more. I wanted them to have a day to themselves to relax but above all for us to connect and for me to let them know how special each of them are to me.

While I began to brainstorm the day I knew exactly who I needed to call… the event coordinating master herself… Katie Clark!

Katie has recently joined the fabulousness over at A Touch of Whimsy – which is a stunning event design and coordinating company that does everything from weddings, corporate events, floral arrangements and much more.

To prepare for the event we hopped on the phone and I told her my three “keywords” for the day and that I basically wanted a table spread for our lunch that was “beautiful and organic.” And guess what… she knocked it out of the park going above and beyond to think of every little detail for me! And not only was it stunning but she made it so easy for me.

The table was laid with a simple linen runner and three floral arrangements to create a gorgeous centerpiece in the Lantana Spa’s cafe. The arrangement meshed perfectly with the spa feel incorporating calm whites and creams with the organic greens. And the center arrangement was placed on a wood platter for additional height and texture.

For a little extra color, Katie added some colored glassware, faux succulent napkin rings and matching linen napkins. It was just the right amount of color while keeping everything a bit more “earthy.”

We then added calligraphy place cards and delicious Baked Goodness cookies for an extra treat. Whenever I’m having an intimate event I like to personalize wherever I can.

I also made some little goodie bags out of craft bags and tied sprigs of rosemary to them for a little extra special touch. Katie is MUCH better at calligraphy than me but I really believe in the gesture of writing something personally by hand so I wanted to have a go at it!

As you can see…Katie is so incredibly talented and she is a true joy to work with. I had this tiny little idea for an event and she brought life and beauty to it – helping me to create a special day for some very special people. I look forward to all of our fantastic event adventures in the future!
