Happy Texas Independence Day! Today Texas is celebrating it’s 182nd anniversary and sTORIbook Food & Beverage Editor, Josie Rees, and I decided what better way to celebrate than with cake and rosé from a true pioneer in the Texas wine industry, Llano Estacado Winery. Llano Estacado Winery is the largest, best-selling premium winery in Texas, producing wines of world-class quality and introducing not just Texans but the entire world to the fine wines made in the Lone Star State.

We grabbed a bottle of Llano Estacado’s Signature Rosé and headed to the kitchen to create a beautiful AND scrumptious Yellow Rosé Cake with Signature Rosé Buttercream! The 2017 Signature Rosé is comprised of classic Southern Rhône varieties: Cinsaut, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Grenache. A maximum of 12 hours skin contact is used for all varieties before being pressed and it was blended early and fermented cold in stainless steel to preserve its delicate aromatics.

The 2017 Signature Rosé is a wine that truly reflects the West Texas terroir. Grown in the high elevation, sandy sites of their best vineyards, this wine is an expression of what classic rosé should be: fruity, aromatic, food friendly or enjoyable on its own on a hot, Texas summer afternoon. Now let’s get to baking (and sipping)!

And don’t forget to scroll to the bottom to enter to win a $25 Llano Estacado gift card! Additionally, enjoy 10% off an online order from the Llano Estacado website using the following gift code: STORIBOOK10.
