2016 San Antonio Fashion Blogger of the Year + $500 Nordstrom Gift Card Giveaway

I’ve said a lot of thank you’s this year and I’m going to say it again even louder – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for voting me 2016 San Antonio Fashion Blogger of the Year! For two years in a row now you have honored me with your vote and I will never be able to express how much this year meant to me.

This has been one of the hardest years of my life and then to be able to end the year on such a high note just makes my gratitude overflow. I LOVE what I do. My blog has brought me so many opportunities, has connected me with so many amazing people and has really changed my life. And I wake up every day grateful for it!

The day was so special from beginning to end and there are some special thank you’s I would like to add. The incredibly talented, Olivia Villa at Live Beautified totally nailed my makeup! I think it’s my favorite makeup look ever! And then we visited the fabulous Blo Blow Dry Bar at Dominion Ridge who did the perfect side up-do to complete my look!

I had no clue if I’d win but I knew if I did I had some important things I wanted to say so I did write a few words and wanted to share those with you… (written below or click here to watch)

First, I want to say thank you to Burgundy Woods and the Style Lush team for continuing to strive to push the San Antonio fashion industry to the forefront of this city.

I’m truly honored to receive this award two years in a row and this year means so much more to me. On July 11th at the age of 32 I suffered a stroke and went through surgery to close a hole in my heart. It was many of the people sitting here before me today that helped me get through.

Few people know the heart that lies within the San Antonio fashion industry and I’ve been blessed to experience that love. My college sweetheart and husband, Russell Johnson, was my nurse and unending support. My photographer and friend, Candace Schaddelee, who captures my journey in pictures. My best friend, Aquila Mendez Valdez, and the incomparable, Xitlalt Herrera Salazar,  who served as my prayer warriors. The countless messages from so many of you who helped me to know that I was not alone.  Today I thank you for this award but I also thank you for helping me stand on this stage today.
