This past week I had the pleasure of attending the debut of the Cesar Galindo Fall 2015 Collection at the St. Anthony Hotel hosted by Fashion Week South. I was honored to be able to sit down with the Texas-native prior to the show and discuss the current collection which featured glamorous gowns, edgy separates and skilled draping.
Galindo spoke with infectious enthusiasm about his collection explaining that the collection featured clean lines and a “modern twist.” Galindo also brought about 40 looks for the show including some of his signature collection.
The stage for the show was set by a dramatic champagne gown that featured a stunning train that was immediately accompanied by the audience’s appreciative clapping.
The collection offered a rich color palette of champagne, cream, beige, oxblood and black. It also showcased Galindo’s talented use of textures and fabrics orchestrating them in to sophisticated designs that every woman would love to own.
I was particularly drawn to his pieces that incorporated textured leathers creating the more edgier elements of the show.
There were also a few chunky knit pieces which are predicting to be very on trend for fall and were seen on many runways during Fashion Week.
Galindo also flawlessly executed several draping pieces and combined them with metal detailing such as the collar featured in the above design.
The runway show was followed by a seated V.I.P. dinner party in Galindo’s honor, featuring a multi-course, menu prepared by Michael Mata, Executive Chef at The St. Anthony.
This is my sweet friend Mandy (center) who is on the PR team for Neiman Marcus San Antonio and her friend, Brittney, that I had the pleasure of meeting.
Galindo has designed for many celebrity clients including: Joan Jett, Courtney Cox, Madonna, and for established labels including, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Dolce & Gabbana and seven seasons for Calvin Klein Collection under the design direction of Francisco Costa.
I want to also mention that I had the opportunity to tour the newly renovated St. Anthony Hotel and learn more about its rich heritage. The St. Anthony was the first luxury hotel in San Antonio and was built in 1909. The recent renovations have returned the St. Anthony to its original grandeur while embracing a modern update. I think I need to go have a staycation there!
