Recently, I was chatting with a college friend of mine and I was talking about some dreams that I’d started to lose faith on. Not completely… I just started to doubt whether God had that in store for me. My friend said something though that really resonated with me. She told me that she believes, “God doesn’t put desires on our hearts if he doesn’t plan to fulfill them.”

It’s hard to not rush to God with a ”want-list” whether it’s job promotion, a new opportunity, a spouse or maybe even the blessing of a child. We (myself included) have to remember to not lose heart. Psalm 37:7 commands us to, “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.” Some keywords there…WAIT and PATIENTLY. Perhaps, your desires may change with time or an even bigger desire comes about. Or maybe God just has a different time table than you.

You know what though? My friend is right. God does fulfill the desires of our hearts. Those and EVEN MORE!

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Making lists is EXACTLY what God wants us to do! Put your faith in writing. I know you—you’re a list maker. Have been since high school. Use your talent to communicate with God. Make three lists. First—what more can you do FOR God? How can you help spread the word and advance His kingdom? Second—list your NEEDS. What do you need to survive in this world? Third—list your WANTS or DESIRES. This is the dream list; go crazy, go big—Do Not limit God! The first list is YOURS—your responsibility to complete. The other two lists are God’s! He will provide for you—even your craziest dreams! Make the lists, keep them handy, read them often, and be amazed when you start checking items off the lists! Thank You Jesus!
