This past weekend my friend, Christina, and I snuck off with our two boys and headed down to the coast to enjoy some mom and son time. It was so special being able to spend some time with a good friend who is in the same stage of life as you are. Our boys are super close in age so the weekend was full of sharing experiences, joys, laughs and even struggles. It was so special seeing those two boys explore the beach and water. I have a feeling that they will be getting in to tons of trouble when they’re older!

After a long day at the beach we were pretty tuckered out and headed to bed. I snuggled Luke in the bed with me and he laid his head down on my outstretched arm. I could tell he was really tired because instead of wiggling around he just laid there looking at me with a slight smile on his face. After a while my arm got kind of tired so I pulled it out from his head. And you know what he did?! He grabbed my arm, started pulling it back towards him and said, “I want arn-ay!” (which means arm). I couldn’t help but laugh and let him lie back against it again. Then he rolled over a bit, grabbed my hand and pulled my arm until it was wrapped around him. I wish I could give you a video or a picture to show you. I was just struck by that very moment and how much he loves me. He slowly closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. I quietly whispered with happy tears in my eyes, “I will never, ever forget this moment, Luke. Thank you for loving me.”

The bit about your little one wrapping your brought tears to my eyes! How precious! My ‘baby’ is 11 now. He has always been a snuggler like yours. My oldest is 13 & every once in a while he will still lay his head on my shoulder when we are talking.
    Wonderful pictures!

Oh thank you so much, Kristi! It’s funny how our children will always be our babies no matter how old they get! I think it’s amazing that your 13 year old will still lay down his head on your shoulder and have a good chat with you. There is NOTHING that can compare to those moments!
