Texas is known for our beef and San Antonio offers many great steak houses. And the greatest of the San Antonio steak houses in my opinion is definitely Bohanan’s located downtown across from the Majestic Theater.

Last night was my second time to visit Bohanan’s and I was just as pleased as the first. When you go in to Bohanan’s you enter a gorgeous bar decorated with dark woods and rich fabrics. It immediately sets the stage for a top-notch experience. I highly recommend enjoying a cocktail or two before going upstairs for dinner. My new favorite, introduced to me by a friend, is a “Vodka Mojito Muddled with Cucumber.”

After drinks you will head upstairs to the actual restaurant. The expensive decor continues upstairs but I would say I found some of the decor a bit “old”. (ie. Faded fake flowers hanging from wall). But in general it is still very nice. Making reservations for a table by the front window overlooking the street and the theater is highly recommended.

Now let’s get down to business…the food is absolutely amazing. Our meal began with Crab Tots which look just like jumbo tater tots but taste much better. After the appetizer I enjoyed a Caesar Salad topped with anchovies (which I had never had before). I love comparing Caesar Salads and this one was definitely one of my favorites. It’s all in the dressing and this one was delicious. My main course was a 6 oz. Filet of USDA Prime Aged with sides of Lobster Corn, Snap Peas and Truffle Oil Fries. The steak was AMAZING and unique because it’s cooked over a mesquite grill (now that says Texas all over it).

For dessert I had the Creme Brûlée which is one of the best desserts ever! Last but not least, I have to give two thumbs up to the service. Bohanan’s is truly a special experience – one that I hope to enjoy again!

Save room for dessert!
