San Antonio Scene: HEB Oaks Crossing Bistro & Bar

Thursday, July 24, 2014

I don’t know about you but I couldn’t live without my HEB. That’s why when I heard a new HEB called “The Market at Stone Oak” was opening only a few minutes from my house I was beyond excited. This new concept is a smaller upscale market at 80,000-square-feet. The store offers large fresh departments that include: an expanded Organics section, a Produce Selling Station/Juice Bar, a Sushi Shop, Dry Aged Beef, a Nut Butter station and a Specialty Cheese shop.

Additionally, one of the most exciting features of the store is it’s Oaks Crossing Bistro & Bar which I was invited to experience and enjoy lunch! Let’s take a peek…

This is the entrance to the restaurant. The pastel blue doors are incredibly inviting and set the tone for the color palette that you will find throughout the restaurant.

Luke and I were joined by my photographer, Candace Schaddelee, and her son, Ezra! As you can tell, the boys made themselves right at home. The restaurant is very family-friendly offering a child’s menu and even play area.

I was really impressed with the stylishly designed restaurant. A bit of a contemporary edge meets Texas with fun pops of colors, wood and metal accents, mix-and-match furniture and large windows allowing the perfect amount of lighting in.

You walk up and order your food from a menu that consists of BBQ, pizzas, salads, tacos and much more. Additionally, there is a large list of wine, beer and cocktails. To view the menu click here.

These little boys just loved it!

They have a lovely outdoor patio to enjoy those cool Texas evenings and maybe a margarita or two!

We started with some yummy fried calamari. For some reason, Daddy Russ and I both LOVE calamari. I order it everywhere I go!

Candace ordered the brisket tacos which she said were delicious!

I had the Tacos Al Pastor with pineapple, onions and cilantro – makes your mouth water, right?! I’ve been craving them ever since!

Little man enjoyed chicken tenders, fries and milk from their kid’s menu.

Ezra had some mac-n-cheese which I couldn’t resist stealing a bite of! Cheesy goodness!

I really can’t wait to go back! The food was excellent, the service was more than friendly and it’s perfect for families. Not to mention you can grab some groceries right after! I also loved that all of the waiters tips are donated to local non-profits!

It’s midnight right now. It’s storming outside. The rain is pouring down with a fury and the thunder is loudly making itself known. Everyone’s asleep, the dog has curled up in my lap shivering slightly and every now and then the lights flicker.

I’m so TIRED. Seriously. Today was packed to the brim. Lots good stuff and some regular ol’ life stuff. Opportunities, client happenings, stolen moments with Luke and then don’t forget about that mountain of laundry that I’d been putting off. Trying, as normal, to fit it all in. Wishing I had more time. But then longing to just curl up and get some sleep!

So, sorry readers – unfortunately – you are getting the short end of the stick tonight. I’ve still got a couple hours of client work to put in which means no time to do the blog post I was planning. So instead, you are gonna get a fly by look at my Instagram account! It’s just random pieces of my life through pictures but it’s filled with happy times, pretty fashions and a cute kid! Happy Friday lovies!
