sTORIbook Food & Beverage contributor, Josie Rees, and I have been at it in the kitchen again! We’ve got a lovely summer cocktail recipe for all those boss ladies out there featuring a new Texas bourbon called Devils River Whiskey! Normally Daddy Russ is the bourbon drinker in this household but this cocktail is totally female-friendly! It’s always kind of special making recipes with local products and Devils River Whiskey is the epitome of Texas!

Devils River Whiskey is made from the fresh water of the Devils River located just north of Del Rio in the Devils River State Natural Area. The bourbon captures the spirit of the waters it draws from. The first sip is bold, followed by an oak, honey and caramel medley. Then finishing smooth with a warm, sweet flavor. This amazing flavor lends itself to the perfect cocktail to sip on all year long!

The bourbon is made with the most attention to detail. All grains are carefully selected and they utilize a proprietary yeast designed to bring out the bold flavors of Devils River. Additionally, it is distilled in traditional copper pot stills and then aged in dark charred oak barrels, which enriches the deep amber color and the bold, sweet flavor. The whiskey is combined with the pure, limestone-filtered spring water of the whiskey’s namesake Devils River which leads to the highest quality whiskey.

This cocktail embodies the essence of the whiskey and combines it with a fresh citrus and pomegranate (which is a particular favorite of mine). This is the cocktail for the fearless female – robust yet refreshing!
