VIVA FIESTA! I am so excited about today’s post because it just makes me smile and want to dance! Things are about to get festive here in San Antonio. Fiesta starts next week and the whole city has been hanging colorful banners, paper flowers and more. If you aren’t from San Antonio, Fiesta is a two week party (or I should say PARTIES) to celebrate the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. There are tons of parades, non-profit events and much more. It’s a great time to visit the city and experience our awesome culture. And if you are getting ready to fiesta I’ve got the ultimate party shoes from Fiesta Feet!

Fiesta Feet is a company that was recently launched by local San Antonian, Susie Cabrera McKinlay. I have to say meeting Susie is just like seeing her shoes for the first time. She is easy to smile and is full of energy and infectious joy. Her shoes are not only beautiful but they are also comfortable and give back! Ten percent of the proceeds go to Casa Kamai, an all girls foster home in Mexico.

I wanted to do something fun for this video and what is more fun than your girlfriends, fabulous shoes and confetti eggs! I’ll let the video tell the rest of this story as well as you can also read an interview with the lovely Susie below!

AND two other big things! Fiesta Feet is giving all my readers FREE SHIPPING with the code STORIBOOK from now until April 28th! ANNNNNNNDDDD…. you can enter to win a pair of these ultimate party shoes below as well!

INTERVIEW WITH SUSIE CABRERA MCKINLAY OF FIESTA FEET:

Tell us a bit about your background and what inspired you to create Fiesta Feet?

I’ve always wanted to connect back to my roots! Every year I do a trip with my grandmother and mom, last year my grandma introduced me to huaraches. I didn’t think much of them at first since the design was neutral, but after wearing them for a day I was hooked. With my background of designing custom clothing for my clients with my tailor in Hong Kong gave me confidence to meet with artisans in Mexico and launch a new business. Artisanal work that has been lost these days and Similar to HKD I have a great love and respect for handmade items and want to bring these traditions back. But with Fiesta Feet I am also able to send part of the proceeds to an all girls foster home (Casa Kamai) that my aunt and uncle started.

Where are the shoes made and tell us about the design process.

The shoes are made in Guadalajara, Mexico. The artisans take the leather pieces and hand paint and weave them to each shoe mold. Please see video link here.

How do you come up with the designs and color palettes for each shoe?

Our designs are classic (such as the neutral and gold) and colorful (pink and blues). We design based on trends and practicality. My goal is for every age group to be able to rock our shoes wether it be with jeans or a dress.

I know a portion of the shoes benefit a non-profit. Can you tell us more about this?

10% of our sales are donated back to Casa Kamai  to be used towards schooling, must  or medical bills. Except for the piñata party shoe, this one is specifically used for the birthday fund for presents!

Where can the shoes be purchased?

Online at www.Fiestafeet.com also click on our locations link for retailers who carry us!

What’s next in store for the brand?

Expanding to new cities…and our Wedges are coming soon 😉

I love them all, but I would choose Mama Maria. They would go with everything.

So cute! I love them all, but probably the Lola, or the Jolly Ranchera, or … do I really have to choose just one??
