St. Valentine was certainly not thinking about my winter/post holiday/gloomy weather induced funk when he married hundreds of people – but I sure am glad that Valentine’s Day falls in February. After the cleansing of holiday decorations in early January, I’m ready for a little fun this month.

My entry table serves as my spot for seasonal decor – my fireplace is mantle-less and so the entry gets the honor – which is a challenge and an advantage all at once! For Valentine’s Day, I wanted a nod to traditional Valentine’s colors and a little bit of longevity so that it would last until March.

The tassel banner and gold metal “I Love You” banner are from my holiday stash and the art are both pieces that were gifts.

The candle holder section at At Home is one of my favorites to browse through. There is literally something for every taste in that aisle… from contemporary, to modern, farm house to industrial. The blush glass containers caught my eye first. Then I saw the small white hexagons and then the copper bottomed wood pillars.

I’m seeing these wood wire legged pedestals all over – so into my basket it went without a plan or reason – and I love the height and natural element it brought to the look.

My succulents rotate into the house when it’s really cold in January and February – and using them to add a touch of green and living around the house makes it feel not so dreary.

The art is a piece my husband commissioned for my Valentine gift last year. It’s our daughter and cat – and even though it usually hangs in the dining room it makes a perfect backdrop for a subtle Valentine-scape.

These hand blown glass votives would be just as stunning with flowers in them. The texture is so unique and beautiful and the top third of the vessel is the prettiest pink.

Is that a Mondini-Ruiz painting? I love the way you used it in the background. I’m never sure how to display the smaller paintings that I fall in love with. This gives me so many ideas.

It sure is Lisa — good eye! He’s my FAVORITE 🙂 I have one of the bulls in my kitchen propped on a shelf – I love art in unexpected places.

Like Kate commented before me, this is a one-off Valentine’s Day decoration for sure Amanda! Your succulents look lovely and healthy too. For later on in the evening I would definitely recommend some orangish, reddish or even blueish dim lighting too!
