Yesterday I was standing in front of the mirror feeling downhearted. As I turned from side to side my eyes couldn’t help but go from bruise to bruise which covered me. My body was black and blue as my blood thinners continue to take their toll. Tired but resolute – I put on my clothes and headed to the doctor for ANOTHER appointment which I had been trying to avoid all weekend.

Pants, long sleeve shirts – this is my wardrobe lately as I try to hide the evidence of the trials my body is going through. The stroke was now a month ago and my heart surgery three weeks ago but the battle did not end there.

But today something special happened. While driving in the car to drop Luke off for his first day of school I went to put him in the car and he smiled and said, “Mommy you look beautiful!” He didn’t see the bruises or the bags under my eyes – he saw ME.

There is more to living life beautifully than your appearance, wearing the latest clothes or having the perfect makeup. It’s about how beautiful you are on the INSIDE. It’s about letting your light shine and trying to infect others with your positivity (even on those crummy days). It’s about living life FULLY and COMPLETELY.
