DIY Emotion Necklace Kids Craft ($100 Fandango Gift Card Giveaway)

Going to the movies is one of my family’s favorite pastimes. We’ve been taking Luke to the movies since he was really little and he gets so excited for movie days (and that kid can put down some serious popcorn). For weeks now every time the previews for Inside Out came on he would point at the TV and tell me how much he wanted to go. So needless to say, today’s opening is on our calendar for the weekend! In preparation for the movie Luke made a DIY Emotion Necklace for me to wear to the show! The lines/paint aren’t perfect but in a mother’s eyes it is! 🙂 I think he did a pretty good job for a four-year-old and he definitely had lots of fun!

Inside Out is about a little girl named Riley who’s family moves across the country. Now as Riley navigates her new life her emotions begin to take control! Today’s Emotion Necklace represent the emotions in the movie including: Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness all in a stylish design AND fun activity for kids!

Supplies:

• Paint (red, purple, yellow, green, blue)
• White Necklace Cording
• 9 Wooden Blocks with Holes
• Scissors
• Painters Tape
• Paint Brush

First, take the blocks and tape off one side in the design of your choice. I did this for Luke since he is so little. I decided to do a variety of modern designs with clean lines including triangles and more.

Once you’ve taped off your designs paint each block the color you selected. When painting be sure to pay attention to where the holes in the blocks are so that the design appears how you want it to. Luke used one block for each color and then the outside blocks had a side for each color showcasing all the emotions. Be sure and let each side dry fully before moving to the next side. I helped him neaten them up a bit when he finished.

Once the paint has dried remove the tape. Now cut your jewelry cord the length that you want and thread the beads through.

Tada! Now you are ready to go to Inside Out in style and you have a special keepsake. You also have a chance to win a $100 Fandango gift card so you can enjoy a day at the movies as well!
