I am such a believer in the power of friendship. There are those friends who just “get you.” There are those friends who you know you can turn to if you ever need anything. And there are those friends that you can not speak to for years and then get together and it seems like not a day has passed. This weekend I was lucky enough to host a reunion between myself and three other gals from my childhood. Some of these women I haven’t seen in over 20 years but we’ve all stayed in touch through one way or another. And, surprisingly, we all came back together through Facebook!

The day was filled with unending conversation as we tried to pack in 20 years of life into a few hours. How much had changed over 20 years! We are now all wives, mothers, and grown women. We talked about our marriages and the husbands that mean so much to us. We talked about our children, pregnancies and even some of the struggles that we’ve gone through. We talked about our memories from elementary school as we flipped through old year books. And as I sat there listening I couldn’t help but remember us as four gangly girls roller blading and staying up all night at sleep overs. I just marveled about how we have turned in to such amazing women and kept wishing that we had more time to talk about our experiences that had turned us in to the people we are today.

The entire day was such a replenishment for me. Those few hours of reconnection and reunion were beyond special as we shared our beautiful life moments. As my last friend left I couldn’t help but tell her husband how lucky he was to have her because I’ve loved her for a very long time. And it’s true…I’ve loved each and every one of them and I am so grateful for their blessing of friendship.
