There is someone in my life that I’m ashamed to say deserves a lot more kindness and patience from me. In fact, it’s been bothering me so much that I’m embarrassed and disappointed with myself. This person is someone who I take for granted. I love her very much but we are very different people which means I’m frequently short-tempered with her and allow words to escape my mouth that would never be pleasing to our Lord.

I’ve written on the blog before about the power of the spoken word and yet this week as I self-reflect I’ve been a hypocrite. People compare words to seeds and this week I have sewn the negative, harsh and critical. These seeds can only grow into a destructive relationship instead of flourishing like it should.

But I do believe we can all change if we recognize our faults. So I’m writing mine down and will hold myself accountable. I’m going to try and plant seeds of love, encouragement, patience and kindness.

Psalm 141:3: Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

(Those are some thoughts of the day…now on to some fashion as well).

Tori, it takes a very strong person to admit their faults and an even stronger person to realize that we can better ourselves and improve on it.. So proud to call you my friend.

Spirit and intent make the person, Tori, and you are beautiful in both departments! The rest is just “fine tuning”, which we would all do better with from time to time! <3

I’ve been doing much of the same. Not speaking well to that important person, the one I seem to forget that needs it most (me).
    Thank you for these words.

You and Luke are so precious!

I cannot imagine that you’d EVER be negative, harsh or critical, but your post hits way too close to home today. I needed that smack.

Oh thank you Sara…you think too highly of me! I definitely sometimes have things that come out of my mouth that I wish I’d never say. But I figure recognizing it is the first step!
