Sometimes I feel myself being torn in a million directions and I’d put money on it that many moms feel the same way. Frequently, I seem to have this never ending list of things that need to be done. Get the latest client newsletter out, make a play date for Luke, go to the grocery store, pick up the dry cleaning, put away the laundry, schedule this conference call…it just never ends. Many of those times I struggle with feeling like I’m not giving a 100% to anything. Particularly with Luke, it’s really been nagging me that I’m not “all there” for him. I’ll take him outside to play but instead of actually playing with him I’ll sit on a blanket with my laptop trying to finish work while cheering him on down the slide.

All of this has really been bothering me lately and then this past weekend our pastor began a series called, “The Art of Being All There.” It literally couldn’t have addressed my concerns better and there were three key points that I’m trying to embrace:

1. Choose to remove all distractions.

2. Choose to embrace the moment.

3. Choose to focus on the needs of others.

All of these are important CHOICES that I am trying to conscientiously make. I’m trying to force myself to SLOW DOWN and focus on one thing at a time versus trying to be the ultimate multi-tasker. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” Guess what the key word here is….STILL! I never take time to just be still. If you aren’t listening then you can’t hear what God is saying to you. So my goal right now is that where ever I am… I am choosing to be ALL THERE.

Tori – you are an AMAZING person, so I am sure you handle everything really well (even when it doesn’t feel like it). But you are right, I feel like I am not all there all the time. It’ll be ok!

My children are grown and I still hope I am giving them enough time…when they need it.
Balance is the key and hard to achieve but you can do it!!!

Ask God to help you prioritize!!
