I think we are fully in to the terrible two’s now. Today Luke has absolutely worn me out. His temper tantrums are getting so bad. One moment he’s the sweetest thing and then BAM he’s screaming because he can’t get something he wants. I can tell he is really trying to test limits and establish his strong sense of will power. I know it’s just a phase but it can get tiring sometimes. Being a new parent is sometimes really tough – particularly when it comes to discipline. You want to make sure that you are consistent and firm without being too harsh. But then you also want to show them that everything you do is out of love. I find myself frequently questioning, “Am I doing this right?” or “Is there something I’m not doing?” Several times today I had to just stop, take a breath and pray for patience and guidance.

On a more lighter note…we recently went to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and had a blast!! I always love rodeo season in San Antonio. Really the whole city seems to bust out the boots! Take a peek at one of my outfits!

I loved this dress as soon as I tried it on at Apricot Lane. It was really comfy and has such pretty silver and gold embellishments down the front.

2

I paired it with my favorite concho belt to give it a bit more western flair.

Every girl must have a pair (or two) of cowboy boots! These are some gorgeous tan Lucchese’s. I’ve had them for a long time now so they are perfectly broken in.

Isn’t this Zara fringe bag AWESOME!? My mom and stepdad got it for me for Christmas and I heart it so much!

Don’t forget the jewelry! My feather ring is from Mia’s Mirror in HEB and my bracelets are from Apricot Lane.

It is tough for sure! 2013 is bringing me not only a 2 year old but a 13 year old! It can be trying and tiring! The best (and hardest to follow) advice I have received is be consistent. It’s harder than it sounds, I still struggle with my 12 year old, sometimes it’s easier to give in. But in the long run it won’t do you any favors! Sounds like your doing great though!

Oh my goodness! Having two and such big ages must be a trial! I’m definitely trying for consistency – but you’re right – it’s hard!

Dominic is right there with Luke. I hate to say it, but for us it got worse before it got better. If he starts acting out, I never give in and take him out of the situation. I think just trying to reiterate that the behavior is not acceptable is key. If you loose it, they win. Keep your cool. Love the dress and the handbag!

    You are adorable!!!

As far as the terrible two’s – my best advice is to walk away. It (almost) always worked with my kiddos. Let him through his fit – as long as he is safe – by himself.

Thank you! I’m definitely integrating the “walk away method” from now on!

My advise for getting through the terrible two’s…..is….prayer and ….wine..in that order!!

Seriously I think…transition is the key…bright 2 years get bored and need lots of activities to wear them out…. as for tantrums…”time out ” is what I used…I needed a timeout as much as they did. I like the comment above about walking away. No positive reinforcement for unacceptable behavior. When mine were older I would say go in the other room and when you can behave you may return.

It’s a good thing your tough!!! Love you Tori…

Love your cowboy chic….you need my fur vest!!!

Love the outfit 🙂 Two was tough. I found that I had to just let G have her time to tantrum. Trying to interact with her during the tantrum was too hard…and ineffective. So I’d make sure she was in a safe place, let her cry/scream whatever, and then address whatever it was we were doing after she’s done. And now that she’s three, I feel like I’d go back to two in a heartbeat! lol.
