It’s the wee hours of the morning right now. That time when the sun isn’t even peeking over the horizon yet but the sky is slowly creeping from one lighter shade to another. It’s almost completely silent outside. When you breathe it feels like you are actually breathing in water as the humidity weighs heavy in the air. You can see the moisture floating in front of you and the dew lingers on all the surfaces on my back porch. It’s one of my favorite smells – it’s complete freshness.

Inside my house is a stirring cacophony. Luke wakes up just like me in the mornings. Quiet and usually not on the best side of the bed. Give him his milk and a little bit of cartoons and then he’s ready to talk (and there’s no stopping him after that). It’s the perfect time to write. I plop on the couch laptop in hand, Luke snuggled up by my side and the cartoons turned on low. There’s just a faint light coming from the tv, my laptop and some Christmas lights that I left wrapped around a large standing fan in our living room. The living room is so shadowed I can’t even read the letters on the keyboard. It’s almost like I’m typing blind…

Some mornings I’m so tired I can barely keep my eyes open. But other mornings it’s my favorite time of day. It’s a NEW day! A day where ANYTHING can happen! It’s a day to EMBRACE and make ours!

On this Saturday I challenge you to enjoy it to the fullest as God intended. Give thanks for all the blessings in your life! I’m definitely giving thanks for mine!

As I stop and listen outside a brave bird gives the first tweet of the day. Its followed by another, and another and then the symphony of the world comes ALIVE and sun breaks the horizon.  A new day has begun!
