When we found out that we were having a boy I couldn’t decide what to do for the nursery. I knew I wanted something unique and after much thought I came up with the idea to do a “vintage country music” theme.
My husband really enjoys old country music so I knew he’d love the idea. He’s told me many stories about driving around his family’s ranch in Pearsall listening to old country with his Grandfather. You can also frequently find at least one of our guy friends on the back porch with him jamming out to Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Don Williams, and many others.
Because I’d never seen this decor before, and I wanted to do it on a budget, I decided to make a lot of the decor. I started with the paint, which I got the pattern from Pottery Barn, and just changed the colors. The orange color is actually a paint match to my Great Grandmother’s boots!
For artwork I framed old records (provided by my grandmother aka. Nannie). I also bought a cheap chandelier and repainted it the colors I wanted and made the dangling accents out of foam board, fishing line and wooden beads (all painted to match).
The box shelves on the wall are actually wine crates and then I painted wooden letters and decoupaged them to make a western font.
I also took apart an old mobile and created a new one hanging old 45s that belonged to my mother.
All in all I was pleased with how it turned out. It is certainly made with much love! I have to say a big thanks to my go-to decorator friend aka. (Mrs. W.) who helped me a lot throughout!
